This Day is Gold

This painting is a raw, simply constructed representation of the deep earth beneath us and the expanse of sky above.  Using rock powder and natural pigments in many layers with oil and cold wax, I wanted it to have a raw, natural, earthy feel about the elements in it. The process of scratching into layers of paint reveals a sense of the rock strata and history within.
