Three Wishes

This painting is an intuitively painted abstract work, inspired by the sky, shallows and deep waters of the St Ives area of West Penwith, Cornwall, where I live and paint. I spend a lot of time pondering the earth, sea and sky here, and this painting reflects that. Some viewers may want to recognise the iconic arches of St Ives harbour, others may want to see waves. I like the symbol of an arch: the circle as a place of safety, holding and containing, and the open structure of it representing new courage and new possibilities. The painting was created with layers of oil paint and cold wax over acrylic with much scratching into previous layers to develop depth of texture in the dark section.

Framed, 'Breton Blue' wood tray frame, framed size 69 x 69 x 3 cm.

Please note this painting is available to buy through Wychwood Art,  Deddington, Oxfordshire, but is available to view in my studio in St Ives. There are more images on Wychwood Art's website at the link below and purchase should be made through them, with collection from me in St Ives or the work can be posted.
