Navigating the Ancient (II)

SOLD

This painting is an intuitive response to the deep sea, dark night skies and ancient rocks of the Cornish landscape. Its dark hues combine Prussian Blue, greys and blacks, and natural earth pigments and powders seek to capture the rocks of the West Cornwall coast. Cold wax medium adds body and texture to the paint mix. It is one of a series of three paintings in which mark-making includes scratching, scraping and gouging; its many layers have an aged patina.

Framed, 'Breton Blue' tray frame, framed size 59 x 59 x 3.5 cm.

This painting is currently available and showing in the St Ives Society of Artists Members' Autumn Show until 18 November.  If you are interested in purchasing it, please message me for more information.
